The Weekly Flush

Flushin’ Friday: DIY Plumbing vs. Reality

The DIY Hall of Fame (a.k.a. Our Call Log)

We love homeowners. We do.

But sometimes… we walk in and see:

  •  Duct tape holding a leaking pipe like it’s on life support

  •  Wire hangers “snaking” a drain (now stuck permanently inside)

  •  Shop-vacs on toilets (we respect the hustle, but no)

  • A bucket under a pipe, also known as “the subscription leak plan”

Good effort. Wrong tools. Expensive recovery.

 Tip of the Week:
Don’t Try This at Home

Here’s how to separate Pinterest hacks from reality:

  • ❌ Don’t dump Drano into every clog, it eats pipes faster than it clears them

  • ❌ Don’t pour bleach into toilets hoping it “fixes” things, it corrodes seals

  • ❌ Don’t use duct tape as a permanent fix, it belongs on cardboard boxes, not copper pipes

  • ✅ Do use plungers, vinegar + baking soda, and hot water for minor clogs

  • ✅ Do call us for camera inspections, leaks, or repeat offenders

Don’t waste money on bottled water or sketchy filters.

We’ll test your water for free, install softeners, RO systems, and whole-home filtration that actually works.

Maintenance Minute:

The Right Tools Win

Instead of wire hangers and duct tape, keep these at home:

✅ A good plunger (cup for sinks, flange for toilets)

✅ A small shop snake (not your kid’s toy snake)

✅ A wet/dry vac for small overflows, not heroic rescues

✅ Our number, because sometimes “easy fixes” aren’t

 Leaky Laugh of the Week

Q: Why don’t plumbers play poker?

A: Too many flushes.

Weird Thing We Found This Week:

A homeowner tried to fix a cracked PVC drain with… chewing gum.

We respect the creativity, but it failed. Immediately.
